Departure from Midgard Base Camp
Meet your guide at Midgard Base Camp and set off toward the highlands. The day’s route depends on conditions, but the journey itself is a highlight, with rough tracks and river crossings that bring you deeper into Iceland’s wild interior.
Into Þórsmörk’s glacier valley
As we enter Þórsmörk, you’ll see how the landscape changes into a lush, sheltered valley framed by glaciers such as Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. Your guide shares local insight into the area’s geology, glacial rivers and the stories behind the region.
Viewpoints and short walks
We stop at scenic points along the way, with opportunities for short, easy walks to viewpoints and canyon edges. Depending on the day, stops may include spectacular river views, rugged ravines and panoramic outlooks over the valley.
