On this unique day tour you get the chance to experience two magnificent Icelandic animals in one adventure – the Icelandic horse and the whale. The day begins with a scenic horse riding tour from the Eldhestar farm at Vellir, where you ride for 1.5–2 hours through meadows and open countryside on friendly, sure-footed Icelandic horses.
After the ride, a light lunch awaits you at Hotel Eldhestar before we head to Reykjavík’s Old Harbour. There, you join a whale watching tour in Faxaflói bay, operated in collaboration with Elding – the pioneers of whale watching in Iceland. During the boat tour you may encounter minke whales, humpback whales, dolphins and porpoises, depending on the season and conditions.
This tour is suitable for riders of all experience levels, from beginners to advanced. We aim to offer as much tölt as possible during the riding tour, but do not gallop for safety reasons.

What do I need to bring
- Sturdy shoes or hiking boots
- Comfortable pants (riding pants not necessary)

- Small waist bag if bringing personal items (backpacks not allowed on horseback)

Good to know
This tour is offered all year round, weather permitting. Pick-up in Reykjavík is at 08:00, with additional pick-up locations in Hafnarfjörður, Kópavogur and Mosfellsbær. Return to Reykjavík is around 16:00 at the Old Harbour.
The whale watching tour is operated by Elding and ends at Reykjavík Old Harbour.
