Description
If you’ve never walked on a glacier before, this easy glacier hike in Skaftafell is the perfect introduction. The tour takes place on Falljökull, an outlet glacier of Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest ice cap.
After meeting your certified glacier guide at Skaftafell Terminal, you’ll travel by 4x4 vehicle toward the glacier. Before stepping onto the ice, your guide will show you how to use the provided glacier equipment and explain basic glacier safety.
Once on the glacier, you’ll explore impressive ice formations such as crevasses, moulins, and sculpted ice ridges. The pace is relaxed, allowing plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the surroundings while learning how glaciers form and change over time.
