Description
River Delta is a private 3-hour riding tour designed for experienced riders seeking a more adventurous experience in North Iceland. After a short warm-up on countryside tracks, the route leads toward the impressive Reykjafoss waterfall, often referred to as “the steaming falls” due to its powerful flow.
The ride continues through varied terrain with several river crossings, offering a true sense of adventure on horseback. In the natural paradise of the Héraðsvötn river delta, riders may, depending on the season, observe birdlife or enjoy a short break surrounded by wide open landscapes.
The terrain provides excellent opportunities to experience the gaits of the Icelandic horse, especially the famous tölt. Routes are adapted to the rider’s experience level, ranging from scenic trails to more demanding stretches, allowing confident riders to fully enjoy the power, balance and responsiveness of their horse.
This tour is not suitable for beginners and is recommended only for riders with previous riding experience who are comfortable riding for extended periods in varied terrain.
