Description
Chase the Northern Lights from the sea on the original Northern Lights by Boat tour from Reykjavík. You’ll depart from the Old Harbour and sail away from the city glow, reaching darker viewing conditions in about 15–20 minutes.
On board, your guide shares the science behind the aurora plus stories and myths from cultures around the world. If you want a warmer break from the deck, you can relax inside and watch Special Tours’ Northern Lights video while keeping an eye on the sky.
To help you stay comfortable in Iceland’s winter conditions, warm overalls are available on board, including children’s sizes. The crew also takes photos during the tour, and they can assist with camera settings if you’d like help capturing the moment.
The total tour time is usually 2–3 hours, depending on how early or late the lights appear.

- Food and drink are not included but can be purchased on board
- When the northern lights forecast looks good but it is too windy to sail, we will take our customers out for a northern lights tour on a bus - plus a chance to join our boat tour the next available day!
- If the tour is cancelled and you have not previously joined a tour, you can exchange your ticket for one of the following options:
