Description
Meadows and Mountains is a scenic horse riding tour that begins on soft riding trails across the meadows around the Eldhestar farm in Vellir. The route follows the river Gljúfra before continuing along an old trail toward Ingólfsfjall, named after the first Norse settler in Iceland.
Riding continues along the slopes of Reykjafjall, offering wide views across the landscape between the Atlantic Ocean and the volcanic mountains surrounding the village of Hveragerði. The varied terrain and open surroundings make this a memorable ride through classic south Iceland scenery.
This tour is suitable for all levels of riding experience, from beginners to advanced riders. During the booking process, guests are asked about their riding experience so the guides can select a suitable horse for each participant. Riders of different experience levels ride together, and whenever conditions allow, the group will enjoy the smooth tölt of the Icelandic horse. For safety reasons, galloping is not part of this tour.

What do I need to bring
- Sturdy shoes such as sneakers or hiking boots
- Comfortable pants (riding pants are not required)
- Gloves and a thin hat or buff to wear under the helmet
- Warm clothing in layers, including wind- and waterproof outerwear
- A small waist bag for personal items (backpacks are not allowed on horseback)
