Húsafell Canyon Baths
Description
Our local guide will lead you on this tour that begins with a short drive from the Húsafell Activity Center to the trailhead in the remote Highlands of Iceland. In this 2-hour tour, we enjoy a relaxed walk among natural wonders away from the crowds of the most touristy routes. We will visit the spectacular two-tiered Langifoss waterfall, also learn about Icelandic renewable energy practices, cross an icy stream of glacial meltwater, and see the site of Okjökull, Iceland's first glacier claimed by climate change. Please note that the route may change due to unforeseen weather conditions such as snow, ice, mud or water.
The highlight of our excursion is a serene soak in the Húsafell Canyon Baths, a surreal hot spring paradise that has to be seen to be believed. Enjoy half an hour of relaxation, recharging and breathing in the pure Icelandic air before returning to the Húsafell Hotel.
You can choose from two geothermal pools of different temperatures, 30-41 ° C (86-105 ° F), plus a cold spring of 10 ° C (50 ° F), each with a spectacular view of the surrounding canyon, mountains and glaciers.
The Húsafell locals who carried out the Canyon Baths project did their best to keep the entire structure as environmentally friendly, sustainable and true to the heritage of the area as possible.
