Description
Walk on Sólheimajökull glacier on Iceland’s South Coast with a certified guide. This easy, family-friendly glacier walk includes all safety gear and takes you to blue ice, crevasses, and surreal ice formations, no experience needed.
Sólheimajökull is a dramatic outlet glacier that flows from mighty Mýrdalsjökull, creating a constantly changing landscape of white ice, vivid blue layers, and crystal-clear shapes. Your guide will lead you through this frozen world at a comfortable pace, with plenty of photo stops along the way.
Before heading onto the ice, you’ll be fitted with the necessary glacier equipment (such as crampons and a harness) and get a clear safety briefing. On the hike, you’ll safely view deep crevasses and water cauldrons, and learn how Icelandic glaciers form, how they evolve, and how the surrounding volcanoes and mountains shape the terrain.
Good to know: Duration is 3 hours (about 1 to 1.5 hours on the ice). Meeting point is at the Sólheimajökull parking area. Minimum age is 10 years.
