Siberian Husky Dog Sledding in North Iceland
Feel free to contact us
Description
Arrival at Valhöllt Kennel: Drive to the husky kennel at Valhöllt Farm, conveniently located between Akureyri and Lake Mývatn. You’ll be welcomed by an experienced musher and the kennel’s friendly Siberian Huskies.
Meet the huskies: Before the ride, spend time getting to know the dogs up close. Your musher will introduce the pack, share fun details about their personalities and family connections, and explain how the team works together.
Gear-up & safety briefing: Get fitted with warm overalls and boots, then join a short safety briefing so you feel confident and comfortable on the trail.
The sledding experience: Head out for a scenic dog sled ride on snow or ice, depending on trail conditions. Groups of 2–4 guests typically have a private sled led by a musher, pulled by around 6–10 Siberian Huskies. The sledding portion covers roughly 6–8 km and often lasts about 40–60 minutes, with opportunities for photos along the way.
After the ride: Back at the kennel, enjoy extra time to cuddle the dogs, take photos and soak up the atmosphere before you head on to your next North Iceland adventure.
