Dynjandi
Dynjandi also known as Fjallfoss is one of the most spectacular waterfall in Iceland located in the Westfjords. The waterfall runs from the river Dynjandisá and is about 100 meters high and very wide. Below Dynjandi there are 6 other waterfalls and each of them has their own name. It is possible to walk behind Göngumannafoss waterfall, but be careful! Dynjandi actually means thunderous, you will understand once you are there.
Dynjandi is the biggest waterfall in the Westfjords and according to many locals it is the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland, but of course you won't know until you see it. The hike to the waterfall takes about 15-20 minutes but might take longer as you might stop by all the other waterfalls on the way. Please note that Dynjandi is a preserved natural monument so it is important to stay on the paths at all times.
On the way back it might be worth to visit the ruins there from an old farm from the middle ages. There are information signs and a map by the parking lot if you are interested in finding the ruins.
